Overview
Impressions represent people walking by screens and viewing the media displayed during a campaign. This article explains how to set up impressions and where to access report data.
- Impressions Per Second or Per Spot
You can enter values for impressions per second or impressions per spot. If both fields are filled in, impressions per spot takes priority in calculations.
| Priority | Level | Notes |
| 1 | Device | Overrides all other levels |
| 2 | Location | Used if no device value is set |
| 3 | Campaign Playlist | Used if no location value is set |
| 4 | Organization / Network | Fallback if configured at org level |
Note: If no impression index is defined at any level, an alert or missing-data state will appear.
- Setting a Maximum Impression Limit for a Campaign Item
In Campaign Manager, you can define the maximum number of impressions a campaign item should reach within its selected run dates.
- Once the limit is reached, the campaign item stops displaying.
- This field is optional, and if left blank, no frequency cap is applied.
Use Case: When selling ad space, if an advertiser wants 100,000 impressions over a 2-month period, the system automatically distributes media frequency as evenly as possible to reach the impressions in that period.
If getting close to the end of the 2-month timeframe, the campaign reaches 100,000 impressions, the campaign stops running and generates an alert. The rundown will continue playing without this campaign/media; however, users can allow the campaign to continue to run if they want, and it will get over 100,000 impressions.
- Forecasted vs. Actual Impressions
When creating campaign items, the system will use the impression index setup to calculate an estimate of total displays over the campaign's full duration. It will depend on the air dates, days of the week for the media to play, and hours selected.
After the campaign ends, the forecasted number is replaced by the actual impressions the media received.
- Viewing Impression Reports
Detailed impression data is available for the different campaigns and campaign items can be found under Reports > Campaigns.
Note: The Locations / Played column displays two values:
- First number: locations where at least one active device (excluding Lab and Temp Offline) is scheduled to play the Campaign, at the time of viewing.
- The second number shows locations where the media actually played.
